This delicious Ground Turkey Taco Salad with Salsa Verde is an updated version of a tasty taco salad combination. The salad features turkey seasoned with salsa verde, cumin, and lime juice, adding a burst of flavor to the dish.
For this improved version, I made some changes based on years of experimenting with this salad. The new dressing combines salsa verde, lime juice, olive oil, mayo, and spices for a delectable flavor. While I kept the diced avocado and romaine lettuce, I swapped the peppers for cherry tomatoes.
The turkey taco meat seasoned with salsa verde was a hit with Kara and me. If some family members prefer regular tacos, the ground turkey mixture can be enjoyed inside tortillas as well. For those who don't mind dairy, adding Mexican cheese is an option. Give this recipe a try soon!

- Use Butterball ground turkey from Costco for zero carbs in a 1 1/2 lb. package.
- Heat olive oil in a large frying pan and brown ground turkey well, ensuring water has evaporated for best browning.
- Choose your preferred green chile salsa, like Herdez Salsa Verde.
- Add salsa verde, lime juice, ground cumin, salt, and pepper to the browned turkey and simmer until liquid evaporates.
- While the turkey simmers, whisk together the dressing ingredients.
- Clean and crisp the lettuce, then cut cherry tomatoes and slice green onion.
- Once the ground turkey mixture is dry, turn off the heat.
- Toss avocado with lime juice.
- Combine Romaine lettuce and green onion, adding dressing to moisten.
- Finally, add the ground turkey, diced avocado, and cherry tomatoes, tossing gently.
- Serve immediately with extra dressing on the side.
- If saving some salad for later, add dressing only to the portion being consumed immediately. Prepare taco meat, dressing, lettuce, and green onion ahead and store the rest in the fridge.
